Preferred Alias: Barclay Odell
Favorite Place Traveled: Bristol, England
Reason for Travel: Returning to my childhood home from a life in the high seas, primarily as a Naval officer, during which I was not at any point referred to as Sven.
Memorable Memory: A dalliance that would be a bit discourteous for me to discuss in such a forum.
Least Favorite Place Traveled: The Caribbean Islands
Reason for Travel: Work/survival in the capacity of a pirate, in the traditional sense (nothing about thieving copies of copyrighted electronic information).
Memorable Memory: The extent to which I lost my memory due to excessive alcohol consumption, although the rum wasn't as strong then as it is now.
Additionally, I should note that the monthly arrival of newcomers seems to have been disrupted. Those of you monitoring the situation from the Citadel and other vantage points may also have noticed. New vehicles and groups have been manifesting on the beach at odd intervals. I cannot speculate as to why this is.
As you may recall, Kenzi and I live at a lighthouse overlooking the beach. We will try to make greetings.
Welcome, newcomers. You are safer here than you were.

that we're safer here

Here, you're not in immediate danger of annihilation. I've little doubt that eventually, the threats will come. But for now, you've space to rest and recuperate.

or just more wary.

It shouldn't make you feel more wary. I've been here months now. I just wouldn't let your guard down entirely.
Are you motivated to return back to your home someday, or are you content to be here?

holy shit, dude! you're a pirate?
that is freakin badass hey do you have an eyepatch???
do you have a talking parrot oh my god
put the parrot on video. do it for the views, i'll leave a like!
daemon: flourd
No eyepatch. I have two eyes and all my proper depth perception. My preferred state of being, really.
I have not got a talking parrot. But I have a talking opossum, which I think, technically, has more character because I deviate from the stereotype.
You are one of those with a lot of preconceptions about pirates, I see. Do not inquire about Halloween advice please, I inevitably disappoint.

ok but do you have a beard and an earring and maybe like, idk, a peg leg?
this shit had to come from somewhere, man
did you at least bury treasure you stole and make secret maps to it? it can't all be a lie

I have had a beard at several points, and certainly worn jewelry however. You see, jewelry is quite a good way to carry currency around with you while having minimal risk of theft. It is particularly embarrassing for pirates to be stolen from, although I can't say that it's a rare occurrence.
I probably could have gotten a peg leg at some point. I nearly lost quite a few of my limbs.
You're a child, aren't you?
no subject
no?? i'm 18
omg are you salty about pirate stereotypes
i did not make those up my guy. have you ever even seen treasure island? that little green frog is lying to people.
[ ...He maybe means the Muppets' version. ]

[Mostly because Kenzi's use of the stereotypes is hilarious, in his opinion.]
You merely sound rather young in your interpretations and familiarity with (what I assume are) fictional frogs.
It wouldn't be a bad thing to be a child. At least, not in the contemporary ages. I would be better at the video games had I grown up in this era. Do you not think so?

you get better if you play em like anything else
i learned about pirates from movies
a+ on bursting my bubble though that was fantastic

I have to get back.
There's someone who needs my protection.
So I'll remain wary.

The peculiar thing about this place is that it does not have the same rules that I, at least, am accustomed to. We've had little crime thanks to the plentiful resources, but there's little in the way of structure for the society.
But as for the person you left behind. Have hope. The sooner you build your relationships here, the more your timeline at home is reconstructed, I think. I believe that is the nature of it.

Would you like to fire a flintlock pistol into the ocean? Or swing about a cutlass. Either one. These were admittedly highlights of my pirate experience.
[He's pretty chill about it these days. This is 'chill' and 'laid back,' for Barclay.]

pistol
i mean swords are cool and all, but
definitely the pistol
why, you gonna let me do it?
no subject
Why ever not? Are you not susceptible to loneliness?
no subject
I'll put my possum on your shoulder and you can also pretend.
[Not a euphemism for anything.]

that's kind of cool of you actually
im sorry for being a dick about pirates
