[there are a couple times where janus glances back in the mirror, checking on the progress of the wheezing man. it's a little dangerous to do, considering the amount of panic going on on the aerial track ahead-- people tossing themselves into or onto vehicles along the way, a shuttle veering wildly off-course, narrowly avoiding hitting a tree and then narrowly avoiding the nose of janus' vehicle. but they want to know.

and their heart jumps when the man's breathing abruptly quiets. funny. they'd had no pangs with the near-collisions and piloting around some completely unfamiliar tech, but in that moment, they felt half their insides drop and the other leap up into their throat. but then era sits back, wipes her brow, and they know it's okay.
