[ For those very few people here who might know Katniss, she's been oddly quite the past couple of months because the player had an unexpected and lengthy hiatus whoops. She's been spending time exploring the area in depth, trying to get a good feel for the land, and has also been scouting out good hunting spots. Not to mention the research and observation she's been trying to do to understand the wildlife of the area better.

As she's making her way back to the place she's squatting and calling home, Cinnad decides to broadcast for her and judging by the way she's ignoring the daemon, a bird-like creature held in one hand, quite obviously a recent kill from her trip into the woods. ]

2 TRUTHS AND A LIE

One Of These Is A Lie

[ When she hears the sound of a message being sent, Katniss looks over her shoulder, brow furrowed. The furrow turns into a deep scowl as she reads through the broadcast. ]

I swear, I'm going to find someone to reprogram you so you can't post things without my permission. Or, better yet -- [ she reaches out to swat Cinnad with her empty hand but he steps back easily, the feed jostling somewhat ] -- I'll find a way to cook you.

It could be worse, [ Cinnad offers. ] I could have shared something truly personal.

That does sound like a master true.
Was archery his only talent or did he enjoy other jobs as well?

"Enjoy" is a strong word, but his main job was working in the mines.
There wasn't much else for people to do in District 12.

[ It's always difficult to talk about her father, especially with her more recent losses, so Katniss is quite thankful that this conversation is happening over text. ]

Mining is a worthy profession.
I always admired those able to acquire materia for their people.

Your realm was separated into Districts?

[ Katniss is just going to gloss over that first part; it's not entirely worth it to explain that mining was really the only job available for males over a certain age.

Besides, it'll probably come up again anyway as she explains Panem. ]

Yeah. There were thirteen originally, plus the Capitol. But long before I was born, District 13 was obliterated during a war.

[ Or so they thought, of course; she's recently learned otherwise, but there's no sense sharing that information with strangers. ]

[ Aymeric is a little sheltered, alright. But he's at least open-minded and doesn't mean for any of it to seem dismissive.

War. It's such an ugly word, such a terrible thing. He's seen first-hand the ways that war tears worlds apart, the way that it ruins everything it touches with reckless abandon. He knows war and he knows it is not kind nor fair; he feels for Katniss immediately. He hopes that this war ended long before she was born too and that she didn't have know the struggles of it. ]

Obliterated by whom?

The Capitol. All of the districts in Panem make, grow, or find products or resources that are then sent to them.
District 13 lead a rebellion against the Capitol, and that's what started the war.

[ A dictatorship, then. He's glad this is text because she can't see the way his politician's poker face fails him and he frowns tightly in distaste. ]

A government should see to the needs of its people, not serve itself and keep only the interests of a minority in mind.

[ If he sounds bitter even over text, it's because he is. That kind of mentality reminds him far too much of the way his father tried to twist things in Ishgard. ]

Is it similar, where you come from? The government, I mean.

Ishgard was a theocracy for many centuries.
Only recently has it become a republic after some truths of the city-state's founding came to light.
It was not an easy shift, mind you, but the change was necessary. Much was sacrificed to make it possible. So maybe take hope that it is possible but you will have to fight for it.
