Characters: Darlene Alderson & You!!
Summary: Darlene gets herself settled into Xistentia! Basically an open log post for the month of October. Come build a little CR with me!
Date(s): October
Warnings/Notes: Nothing currently, but check subject headers for any changes.
[ Darlene doesn't often go out and explore Xistentia. She ventures into the main city only when she needs too, and keeps away from the forest and the wilderness out the outskirts of it. She likes the comforts of her home, this world doesn't yet feel familiar to her -- although, avoiding it isn't helping it at all to do so either.
If you do happen to manage to find the girl, it's likely that she'll be preoccupied with whatever is taking up the screen of her computer -- likely her most recent experiment for her Daemon to undergo. -- her fingers typing away rapidly and a pair of headphones drowning out the rest of the outside world.
Some days she sets up at a small coffee shop with a steaming cup of liquid caffeine at her side, other days she's at a far back table inside the small library, or even sitting in an empty patch of grass with a laptop literally balanced on her lap.
Come strike up a conversation. (At your own risk) ]
[ It's not like Darlene (or Elliot, for that matter.) to go inviting people over upon first meeting them, or even upon knowing them for an extended period of time.
So, perhaps you've stumbled into the Alderson abode by complete accident. The face of the building doesn't look much different from the ones around it, and the lock that is supposed to keep any unwanted guests out seems to have stopped working centuries ago, rusted and weathered away to nothing.
Maybe you've noticed Darlene loitering outside of the front entrance smoking a cigarette multiple times in the day, or either of the siblings coming and going at random -- and rare -- moments. Or maybe she off-handedly offered to fix some problem you've been having with your Daemon earlier that week. For a price of course.
Whatever the reason may be, it's likely that Darlene will be a little more than surprised with the company -- even if she's invited you over, it's likely that the meeting has since slipper her mind. That is if you can pull her away from her laptop where she's likely working. ]
[ Anything that strikes your fancy! I'm more than happy to provide starts, or you can ping
unnideul if you'd like to plot something specific. ]

( two ) the alderson abode

Wildcard
This day, he woke up midday or so and after a quick shower he meanders out into the shared space in a black t-shirt and black jeans. ]
We got anything to eat? [ Is directed at Darlene even as he's going into the kitchen to peruse the fridge. ]

By now, though, she's found a rhythm that at least feels normal. Even if it isn't. ]
If you want to make a meal of condiments, a slice of bread and two salt packets, go ahead.
[ Darlene's sprawled out on the floor with various supplies, trying to figure out how to hack into her Daemon's programming, much to its dismay -- and complaints. ]
You'd think when these things led us to this place to live, they would have included a fully stocked fridge too.
Look, Darlene, that's not my fault. I'm just doing my job.
Yeah, yeah. And soon we'll know exactly which asshole gave you that job.

He glances over what she's doing on the floor and looks vaguely interested and almost maybe a little bit amused by her. He hasn't tried taking about his own daemon all that much -- mostly because he likes the little thing, which behaved quite a bit like the real Flipper had, minus peeing on his bed. ]
You think there's pizza delivery? [ Elliot wanting to eat -- someone call a doctor because something....new... is probably wrong?! ]

[ Darlene repeats, turning her head to look over her shoulder at Elliot -- and if she doesn't think beyond the four walls of their home, she can almost trick herself into believing that they're still in New York. That their plan has gone off without a hitch and now they're forging a new life together.
At least until she returns to the thought of pizza delivery, and Chinese delivery, and Indian delivery, and Greek delivery, and every other type of delivery food that used to be available in one hour or less. ]
I don't know. There's not exactly a Yelp app on this thing and trying to use the map is like... trying to use a map.
[ She casts a quick glance toward Flipperd -- the pooch that is a spitting image of the one Elliot had been sent to jail for. ]
Yours listens to you, doesn't it? [ She pauses a beat. ] I mean, it's not shitting on your bed anymore. So, it has to be doing something. Ask it.

I don't like when it talks. [ There's Elliot being stubborn a bit. He'd rather treat the daemon like a pet more than admitting the truth about things. Asking it something not entirely required is a bit out of his preferred comfort zone. ]
We could go out. [ Has hell frozen over? ]
no subject
(She's currently being the epitome of a millennial right now.) ]
It makes me feel like we're in a shitty Dr. Doolittle remake, or Toy Story. [ She motions to her daemon, which is still functioning fine and in one piece. ]
You want to go out? [ The surprise is evident on Darlene's face and in her tone, one of her brows raised as she gives Eliott a scrutinizing sort of gaze -- as though he might really be someone in a very convincing Elliot suit. ]
You don't go out. Are you feeling okay?
no subject
I feel fine.
[ There's a short pause. ]
Never mind.
no subject
(Perhaps Mr. Robot? No. She doesn't want to go down that rabbit hole of a thought process.) ]
I suppose we could go out and find something. [ She stops attacking her daemon with a butter knife and a screwdriver. ] I think I saw a few places that look like they serve something close to food. We could mingle with the locals
[ And with that her eyes roll back into her head, a sure sign of her enthusiasm toward the idea. ]
