i've been to places where it rains a lot, but honestly, this almost seems a little ridiculous.

in technical terms, that would be exactly right. although, to be fair, it's not the opposite of what i was looking for. mutants from my world are a new variant of homo sapiens. we aren't the new species, though. [There aren't enough of them. Yet.]

The most human-like species of my world has also been around for quite a long time. However I am unsure if it is the oldest.

like, dating all the way back to ancient egypt.

it was. egypt is still around, but archaic egypt (or early dynastic) began in thirty-one hundred bc.

seems like there are many places that i never knew existed.
oh, 'egypt' isn't anyone's name.
in the early period, during the old kingdom, it was referred to as 'kemet' or 'kmt', which means 'the black land.' the term refers to the rich soil found in parts of the country.

How interesting.

It sounds similar to the current city-states of my world. For example, Gridania was predated by Gelmorra, which was predated by Amdapor. Did the old kingdom fall and become replaced by Egypt, or was it a natural evolution of advancement?

that does sound rather similar.
uh, i believe the old kingdom collapsed? part of the fall was because of drought and lack of strong leadership. egypt eventually split, broke out into civil war. it's still something i'm learning about at my school, but that's the bit i do know.
