text; daemon: shebad
[None of this is familiar to Kurt.
The last thing he remembers was a misstep in the Danger Room, falling toward (possible) certain doom and then a portal. Waking in an ocean wasn't something he'd planned for, gaining this strange thing called a 'daemon' isn't either, but most of all: he's certainly going to do everything in his power to avoid all this rain.
Seeking shelter wherever possible? There won't be any hesitation on this guy's end.]
so, is this downpour normal here?
i've been to places where it rains a lot, but honestly, this almost seems a little ridiculous.
[Guess he's never been to Washington.]
oh, and if anyone could give me more detailed information about this place, i'd greatly appreciate it. the map's helpful, yet ... [It's not a complaint, honestly!]
this is just definitely not new york
nor any place that i'm familiar with
which prompts me to ask: if i were to say 'mutant,' what is the first thing that would come to mind for you?

[ Not exactly the same neighborhood, but a fellow New Yorker is a fellow New Yorker, and that's a good thing in Peter's book. ]
Metahuman? No, I can't say I've ever heard that one before. Except maybe in a sci-fi novel.
[ The explanation helps quite a bit, though. ]
Oh! We've got something like that. They're usually referred to as Enhanced, but not all of us are born with it though, all kinds of things can cause it to happen.
no subject
[He says 'yet' because he plans on visiting as many places in America as possible, now that it's his place of residence.]
'enhanced,' huh? that's actually a great word to use!
do you know anyone that's enhanced? like, are you friends with some?
[Since Kurt wouldn't mind having more of those.]
no subject
As soon as we're all out of this place, you've gotta take a trip. It's the best place in all of New York!
[ He isn't biased or anything, though. ]
There's not a lot of us, I don't think. Or, they're keeping it under wraps, most people end up finding out about anyone with any type of powers.
Does knowing myself count?
no subject
the best? hmmm
any recommendations on what i should see?
[Oh, not at all.]
i commend those that are able to hide their mutations.
mine is not so easily overlooked.
well, i'd say that [pause, paaause.]
you're one of us?
no subject
oh man, the unisphere is a must-see no matter who you are, and personally the nysci museum is one of my favorites!!
[ Of course it is. ]
that's gotta be difficult, right? Not everyone is as accepting as others.
[ Especially since the whole alien attack on the city incident back home. ]
I am, yeah! I mean, I wasn't born this way or anything, but I was bitten by a radioactive spider and all of a sudden I was... well, how I am now.
no subject
ah, i love museums! what sort of exhibits do they have?
no, they aren't, but in america, mutants seem to be more widely accepted.
[And not forced to fight each other in underground clubs.]
radioactive spider? interesting ...
define 'how you are now.'

One of the cool ones is this fantasy ecosystem that changes based on the decisions and movement of the people that come through it.
As long as you're not terrorizing the city, at least.
I've got eight legs and a million eyes now.
No. I'm kidding. 🤣😂
It's more like spider physiology. I've got a little more strength than before, I can climb walls, I can sense things and react a lot quicker. Nothing too drastically different.
What about you?
no subject
i'm not sure when it will happen, but this is a place i have to see.
sooner rather than later, honestly.
because that ecosystem thing? that sounds mind-blowing
minus the terrorizing part
i was about to ask if you were fuzzy, too.
thanks for solidifying that you aren't an actual spiderman
you can scale walls?
we should have a climbing contest
teleportation is my main thing, but i can also adhere to surfaces.
there are some other things, but they need more practice.
like shadow camouflage.
no subject
Walls, ceilings, buildings, anything a spider can climb, so can I.
[ Some would say.... He does whatever a spider can. ]
I'm up for it! We'll find the tallest building in this place and first to the top wins?
Whoa, teleportation?! Sweet! That's gotta be taking the bus and the train all the time.
Shadow camouflage? Like, you can blend into the shadows?
no subject
that seems like a bit of a mouthful ...
maybe we could think of something less lengthy and just as great?
[... oh, no-- the puns.]
you're on!!
i'll even be totally fair and not use my teleporting powers.
yeah, it's rather convenient! if you like, i could take you for a ride sometime.
exactly that. :D i'm pretty much invisible.
no subject
Thankfully, I don't have to worry about that any time soon.... I hope.
Well, it wouldn't be much of a climbing contest if you were teleporting.
[ He's not going to pass up a chance to teleport! He's not crazy! ]
Definitely! Does teleporting really work like that? I always thought it was limited to only the person with the ability to do it.
no subject
nothing worth fretting over!
would that be considered more of a speed test?
well, to be fair, when i take other people with, it does cause exhaustion and nausea.
it also puts a slight strain on me, but it's not so bad with just one person!
no subject
probably so. We could always try one of those as well.
Sounds... Fun. [ Which is to say that it doesn't sound fun at all.... but that's not going to stop Peter from trying it, anyway. ] Maybe shorter distances would also be less strain as well?
no subject
do you have superspeed?
that'd be interesting to test against. [He and the Peter from his homeworld hadn't gotten a chance to do that.]
they are, yes. i'm not worried about it!
it's not like i'll be purposefully trying to strain myself or attempting to get us out of harms way.
no subject
i’m a little faster than i used to be, but it’s nowhere close to super speed.
but i am an avid supporter of experiments in the name of science 😎
ah. well, you’re the professional here when it comes to it, so i’ll trust your judgment.
i’ll pack a doggie bag just in case the nausea gets too much.
no subject
except ... maybe not? we could also have a footrace sometime.
for science, of course!
a great plan.
if i could find any, i'd bring mint or ginger, too.
no subject
wait... you don't have super speed along with teleportation, right?
[ He will not be tricked into losing before this race even starts ]
mint or ginger, got it.
I'll take a look around for some, you can never be too safe.
no subject
that'd be so rude of me! challenging you to a footrace and having superspeed ...
[What kind of person (mutant) do you take him for, Peter?]
if you happen to discover any, let me know.
i could find a way to plant some mint in my apartment, at least.
no subject
a little sneaky, but effective!! 😂
i'll keep on the lookout and bring some by to you if I find any! 👍
with enough work i might be able to get some that'll grow despite the weird weather patterns here.
[ AKA: yay, science! ]
no subject
if i were to win a contest, i'd want to do so because of my skills.
sounds great! 😄
is that so? i'd be willing to help you out, too. i'm rather good with plants, despite the peculiarity of xistentia.
