Characters: Loki + Thor
Summary: Loki and Thor's Big Adventure (featuring bisexual jeff goldblum) aka canon update
Date(s): 11/27
Warnings/Notes: Thor: Ragnarok spoilers
[ the temple is dark, oddly reminiscent of the inside of the dark elves' ship, and thor had felt an unsettling chill while he and loki wandered through it, to the console holding the timelines of all worlds connected to this one. he hadn't been sure how great of an idea it would be to use the technology to peer back on their world, but in the end, the both of them were too curious.
through months and years they go, thor traveling the universe, through the realms, hunting the infinity stones, then surtur, then back home. to find loki, to lose odin, to have hela's curse placed upon them. all through the chaos of sakaar and the calamity of ragnarok, and they're yanked roughly back into their bodies in Xistentia, just as the ship that now holds Asgard makes course for Earth.
it takes some time for thor's mind to catch up, to remember the time here before, after being pulled into memories from so much time later. the crash on the beach, the war, the conversations with loki. tentatively, he reaches up, touches at the patch over his eye, one that wasn't there before, but remains now that they've come back from their future. and yes, it's still a they, loki's presence at his side, and thor tilts his head to look to him, sidelong. things are... much different now, than they were when they stepped foot into this temple. hell, things are much different now from the few days ago when he found loki still alive, and masquerading as odin.
he picks up a stray twig that'd fallen on the console, and tosses it at loki's cheek.
just checking. ]

This, though, feels a bit much. He's not surprised to find a timeline where he returned home (where else would he go?), though he is surprised he mastered enough power and magic to overwhelm Odin and send him to Earth while Loki rules Asgard. Which got tiring fast. Though he enjoys the small victory. And oddly enough, it seemed Odin enjoyed the joke.
I love you, my sons.
To say that and have the audacity to perish (and leave Loki again, with the guilt that he's essentially killed off three parents, two without meaning to). Hela's existence which puts Loki's own under a harsh light, one he finds he no longer needs to dodge. Not so monstrous now. Or anymore. Loki could never be Hela, no matter their similarities. Loki wonders if Odin knew or simply feared what could have been inevitable. Still, Hela never had Thor. Loki did.
And now, perhaps, he could be more. Someone else. Someone he can choose without the overwhelming weight of his skin and background looming over him. The sigh he lets out feels . . . real.
Or merely annoyed as the twig hits his cheek and he scowls at Thor. ]
Really?

hela was a rude awakening, and a horrible tragedy, but odin's death and her horrific take over had brought the remaining princes together, something alien wars, numerous murder attempts, and two false deaths hadn't managed as of yet. for thor, it took completely letting him go to really have loki coming back to him, a result he hadn't been expecting. he'd only thought, with all they've been doing harm to each other, better to just let go and let them heal on their own paths.
thankfully, those paths seemed to merge back together, even here, in xistentia, while thor gives his brother an innocent shrug, as if this should be expected. ] They'd told us we were computer programs, hadn't they? Just making sure all of you came back.
[ no pixels holes in your face, okay, it's safe. but hey, speaking of computer land - a thought resurfaces, thor's eye
sgoing wide as he jerks around, looking to the floor on either side of the console until, ah. there it is. ]Hammer! [ taking a lunging step, thor snatches mjolnird up from the ground it had been resting on, giving it a twirling toss in the air, voice gone all sentimental, heart broken for those 3 or 4 whole days he didn't have his dearest weapon. ] Oh, I've missed you.
no subject
Food for thought. And Loki suspects he'll be chewing on it for a while. ]
You do realize you have an unhealthy attachment to that, don't you?

[ hurr hurr, because it's still here, geddit. well, if this visit to the temple proves one thing, it's that they'll be able to head right back to the second they left their timeline, no moments missing in between. a calming reassurance, considering the ship full of asgardian refugees waiting for the both of them to come back and guide them safely to a new home. honestly, thor looks forward to it. he'd so dreaded the day he'd take the throne, if he was forced to, feeling like everything would be wrong, different, out of balance.
but he has loki. heimdall, valkyrie, and, uh, korg? point being, a team of people with his trust (mostly), here to keep him in check, to advise him, to make sure he isn't screwing everything up and making huge mistakes that won't just have dire consequences for himself alone anymore. and his brother, sharpest mind he knows. also, most dour, which is why he's giving him a dorky grin now. ]
Don't be bitter, I'm sure you'll find someone special one day too. [ we'll find you a hammer girlfriend soon, loki. anyway, a hand slaps to the back of loki's shoulder, thor stepping out to head for the door of the temple. ] Come on, let's see if everything's on fire again.

I suppose I will miss the Grandmaster. The man did know how to spoil someone.
[ And Loki is very into that. ]
no subject
The same way he knew how to melt someone?
[ because he did that. he melted people. it was disgusting, and it definitely smelled a lot worse than burnt toast. thor points a finger, a sign there's something of a rant on the way. ]
That man was insane, and not like sad/angry insane, actual probably baby eating kind of insane. [ he seems like a cannibal, just saying. an freaky orgy having cannibal. but speaking of, and because it bothers him - ] What was that look about anyway? And the wink? What was that?
no subject
Thor, if you cannot understand the nature of a conquettish wink, then all hope is lost.
no subject
The nature I understand, it's the why that's putting the spiraling horror in my mind. [ as they walk and talk, thor's hands gesture to either side of his head, like the cloud of what-the-fuck can be seen accumulating there. ] He had an orgy ship, you know that? Should we be testing you?
[ where is the xistentia gynocologist, please. ]
no subject
Of course I knew of the ship, Thor. Who do you think gave you the access codes?
no subject
Perhaps you should take this vacation to practice improving your taste in orgy partners. [ yes. that would be the productive task to undertake. please do. satisfied, he starts to walk again, musing. ] Little less melting, maybe. At least find someone who murders traditionally.
[ also, only have sex when you're married, in the missionary position, with the lights on, from now until eternity, thank you xoxo ur big bro. ]
no subject
Oh, please. You've never approved of anyone I've been acquainted with.
no subject
What about that one - the mousey one with the glasses? She was nice. [ she? he? honestly can't recall, because he's a bad brother and remembers like a third of the people he meets. ]
no subject
That was the librarian, Thor and I was not seeing him.
no subject
[ so technically he's right. hurr hurr hurr, your brother's a loser. but to the actual point. ] Fine, so I can't recall any in specific. Name me some, I'll say if I disapproved or not.

The ambassador from Vanaheim, Lady Sjöfn, mother's handmaiden Cassandra . . .
no subject
That ambassador was looking for political leverage, and old besides. Lady Sjöfn... she'd have been alright, but so clingy. [ uuuhhhh... ] Cassandra was okay.
[ he doesn't remember cassandra. ]
no subject
Describe Cassandra and I will let this pass.
no subject
...Red head?
[ maybe? ]
no subject
Blonde.
no subject
Was it as least reddish blonde?
no subject
Not even close, Thor.
no subject
Alright, so, find someone here and I'll do my best to... not outright disapprove. [ except loki will probably find someone despicable just for the sake of making this difficult for him. ] At least keep away from the crazed or murderous ones, would you?
no subject
Because that's what I should do near the end of days, Thor. Find a lover.
