[ Aymeric doesn’t too often address the populace. When it comes to matters of informing people of the disparity between Hydaelyn and the more common world of ‘earth,’ Era is often the one to take the helm there. This topic, however, is one very near and dear to his heart and so he wanted to be the one to share.
He is even dressed for the occasion accordingly. In the background of their shared apartment, Era can be seen moving in and out of the screen and hoisting decorations up on the walls. Anima is excitedly flying to and fro as Haurchefantd helps to pass things to them and Era; Emeraldd bats playfully at a low-hanging string of greens. Wreaths and colorful baubles, lights and bells. Anyone looking on might think they’re Christmas decorations, but he’s here to set the record straight. They’re not. Though he isn’t about to deny there are some similarities, which is actually a bit of a comfort.
Something to help bridge that distance between himself and others here. ]
Hello, denizens of Xistentia. While usually it is Era who informs about our world of Hydaelyn in contrast to those that you come from, seeing as how this specific topic is rooted in Isghardian lore it seemed only right that I was the one to speak on it. Most people here seem to celebrate a similar holiday called ‘Christmas,’ but ours is actually known as the Starlight Celebration.
[ He clears his throat and begins to talk in a low, calm tone as he tells a story that obviously means quite a bit to him. ]
The tradition of the Starlight Celebration dates from several generations ago to have began in Coerthas during the beginning days of the Dragonsong War nearly one thousand years ago. They were the series of battles between our Knights of Ishgard and the Dravanian Horde, which left thousands homeless with the Ishgardian children forced to endure in the land's chilling winds.
But each night, a handful of Ishgardian knights would seek these children and offer them room within their company barracks. As this act of kindness was strictly forbidden by the knight's charter, these kind men and women, many being once orphans themselves, would conceal the children beneath the red jackets of their uniforms. [ A motion to his own red uniform. See! Tradition. ] After several months, the fighting eventually subsided during one of the Dragonsong War's ceasefires and the incident was soon forgotten. However, a group of former orphans gathered together years later to pay tribute to the knights who rescued them so none would ever forget their remarkable deeds. During the coldest weeks of each year, they would dress up in brilliant scarlet uniforms and pass out gifts to the children of the realm, passing along the happiness that they once received on a starlit night long ago.
Furthermore, while Ishgard is most closely associated with the goddess Halone the Fury, over time the snowy-bearded captain of the knights who first sheltered the children came to be associated with Nymeria the Spinner, and in modern times is even known as the Saint of Nymeria, with children believing that this now-immortal-if-unseen figure delivers their wishes for presents to Nymeria Herself after they place said wishes in an envelope beneath a properly-decorated pine or fir tree. His "knights", in turn, have become the "Saint's Little Helpers", the ones tasked with bringing comfort and joy to children the realm over. The folk legend of the Saint has been further enhanced over the years by some citizens, including the current Starlight Celebrant herself, swearing they have been visited by the man in the flesh and given not just a gift but succor for the soul in their hours of direst need as children.
The modern Starlight Celebration is often handled primarily by the Adventurer's Guild, with assistance from various other organizations. The work of the Celebration is organized by Starlight Celebrant, Amh Garanjy, who helps coordinate "little helpers" in the form of willing adventurers who take up whatever task is pertinent for that year—ideally, helping deliver presents to the children.
Starlight Celebration is something that I have enjoyed since as far back as I can remember and it pleases me to see so many things reminiscent of it here. [ Perhaps the closest the man will get to admitting so openly that he’s just a touch homesick again, especially so during this time of year. ]
If you have any questions or need for clarification, I would be happy to elaborate on anything unclear. Thank you for your time.

[ Who hurt you, Grinch. Let him know. :c ]

[ The Grinch comes up close to the camera, scrunching up his nose. ]
The Who! And their food, their games, their presents, their carols! Haven't you heard the singing?! It's joyful and triumphant! I can't bear it.
[ Points at him. ]
And now you give them 'Starlight', too! You should be ashamed.

I find the sound quite melodious, personally. And I don't think there's anything wrong with sharing other cultures with the people of Xistentia, the Who included.
