Employment AMA; Daemon: Celestiald
Preferred Alias: Jaden
Worst Job(s) Held: real life mannequin; pool cleaner (you have no idea how gross people are, on several levels); bounty hunter; werewolf (not sure it counts, but it sure as hell feels like a job)
Best Job(s) Held: tailoring intern; spelling bee champion (my mother considered it a real job. my allowance was based on where i placed); big brother; football player (high school, so not technically a job)
Fantasy Job(s): middle linebacker for the New England Patriots
Current Job(s): still a bounty hunter, I guess, although I've not had any work since arriving here. If you're looking for someone to perform a job for you, I am available. I guess, if you really need a suit done, I can look into that, too. I'd rather not.

An Elezen looks like a Hyur - a human in your terms - save for being a good deal taller and having longer, pointed ears. The Holy See of Ishgard is a city-state occupied mostly by Elezen, though there are some Hyur.
Some Ishgardian knights of a thousand years past ate an eye stolen from a dragon they slew, igniting the thousand year war with the dragons. Most descendants were not aware they could transform because of their forefather's act of war.

your world sounds cool. I might fit better with your Elezen - I'm way too tall to fit in anywhere with normal sized humans

The tallest of the races are male Au Ra at just over 7' and the shortest are the Lalafell at under 3'. My friend here is of average height for an Elezen at 6'8".
There is quite the disparity between the races in Eorzea compared to the population here.

There are two subsets to each race, and one is often viewed much differently than the other. For example, it is not uncommon for Duskwright Elezen and Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te to be considered savages while their counterparts Wildwood and Seekers of the Sun are not. Most commonly it is not race but nationality that is treated with the most disdain.
One of the most distressing thing I have come to learn is that Eorzea considers mixed-race relationships taboo. I once met two men who were forced to flee their homes because they were in love. One was a Hyur while the other was a Miqo'te. While one might have casual sex with another of a different race and not be looked down on for it, apparently being in love is unacceptable.
[ her recent contemplation regarding her own feelings toward one handsome Ishgardian Elezen has made this fact slightly more personal. not that she was entirely aware of her dokis at the time of this thread lol )': ]

If this kind of relationship is found out, the consequences can go far, and I think that's because Vampires are terrified of the idea of Hybrids. Since female Weres can have kids, if they shack up with a male Vampire, it could be possible.

What would be so frightening about a hybrid Vampire and Werewolf?
It is interesting that hybrids are possible in your world. In mine, the result of a mixed race coupling is a child that takes after their mother's race. It is a very rare thing, and even rarer still if the child takes on any visible traits of their father's race as well. I have a friend whose mother was a Hyur and whose father was an Elezen and she looks like an average Hyur save for the points of her ears.
If an Au Ra like myself were to have a relationship with a Hyur or Elezen the child would look like an average Au Ra. Perhaps taller than usual if it were a girl or shorter if it were a boy, and possibly with noticeably fewer scales.

and a hybrid would taint the gene pool. Also, it could combine the strengths of both races which they can't abide - they have to be the more powerful, in their minds. It's BS, if you ask me, but also I've never been interested in a Vampire.
Huh, that's cool. In my world it's all mingly mangly, the genes and all. It all mixes and matches. I don't know if a Hybrid is possible, really - I don't know if the species' DNA can match like that. But I got my height from my dad, my smile from my mom, and everything else is a pretty solid match of the two of them.
I don't know if I count, since I was born human.

Things like smiles and chins and noses and eye colour are all equally inherited in my world as well. It is just the physiological differences in races that are most noticeable as they are quite different from one another. A child might have all of her father's features but still be considered to look like her mother for the mere fact that she is a Miqo'te and not a Hyur.
I quite like the idea of an equal blend of genes among the hybrids like it is in your world.

We all look the same, here. I guess the major differences are with fae, since some of them can look very very different from humans. But Vampires and Weres all look pretty much the same as humans. When a Were has a baby with a human, though, it's pretty much 50/50 if the baby will be human or shapeshifter. You never know what you're going to get, but one of the two wins out.

And if a human and a Were have a shapeshifter child, are they only capable of shifting into one form?
no subject
We can only shift in one form anyway - I can only turn into a wolf, and back to human.

Now, yes. Used to be that I could only turn during a full moon, but I gained control. Have to do at the full moon though, it's kind of a requisite. That's when my instincts are strongest, too.
