Sort of??? That's more like... Synchronized swimming. The swim team is more like... A race! You swim from one end of the pool and back, the person who does it the fastest is the winner.
I'm not really sure of the point of the game either, so I can't answer. I suppose it's an effective strategy to get people talking. Especially when the cover of the possibility of a lie makes it easier to admit more vulnerable truths.
