[ peter parker? as in... no way. it can't be. nico might be fan-boying a little inside. after all, he once quoted the comics to percy who didn't seem to catch the reference. ]
i'm leaning towards #3 but it's so outlandish that it might be true so i'll go for #2 is the lie
I've got nothing against swimming. I'm not particularly good or bad at it. Average, I guess. They wouldn't let me be captain, though.
Washington Monument and... Well, it's kind of a long story. But to cut to the chase, the elevator inside was ready to plummet some 500 feet to the ground and I swung in and stopped it just in time.
[ Panicked, all the while, but that's just a minor detail. ]
Hopefully you'll forgive the barrage of questions, but "swung in?" Again, I have to ask. Where did you swing in from? And how do you stop an elevator from plummeting 500 feet all on your own?
[ If it were him, it'd be a quick little series of flourishes and some magical blue fire and poof! Done. But not everyone inherited demonic magic from their dad. ]
Random food seems likely to be a truth. Captaincy and the preservation of monuments are slightly more likely, though I don't really know what a school swim team is. Do you just swim in groups?
It looks pretty sturdy lately, yeah. But it ws pretty close to being a bunch of rubble in the middle of DC.
There's an elevator inside of it that takes people all the way up to the top, it ended up hanging on by literally a thread. I held on to it long enough for everyone to make it out before anything too bad happened.
[ Friendly neighborhood Spider-Man saving the day. ]
Probably not. I already had enough stuff going on after school, I would have been a pretty useless teammate. They managed without me, though.
Well, it was sort of like a blackflip and then a swing, if you want to get technical. I had a little accident with a radioactive spider, gave me a nasty bite and a whole bunch of really sweet abilities.
[ Peter couldn't go telling everyone all these details back in his world, but here? Why not, what was the harm in it? ]
The swinging part is mostly a super-strong and really sticky web-fluid that I cooked up. It's pretty good for getting from place to place, keeping things from splitting in half and catching things.
[ Yeah. He really went all out after that spider bite. ]
Is the point of the game to try and fool everyone else into thinking they could all be true?
[ Really. He doesn't know. His friends didn't ever play this game. ]
Sort of??? That's more like... Synchronized swimming. The swim team is more like... A race! You swim from one end of the pool and back, the person who does it the fastest is the winner.
