Vex didn't say much, just a quick text that said something along the lines of 'hey, short dark and vampy, let's go kill shite' with the location of where he'd be. It was the forest near his home, and Vex was decked out in his snug leather pants, tight sleeveless leather shirt and heavy boots despite the stifling hot weather.Winning the ex back? (
He had a wicked dagger strapped to his belt, paired with a compound bow in his hands and arrows in a quiver on his back (had someone been taking lessons with Alec, or did he always know how to shoot?), all of it was black of course, because if there was one thing Vex knew how to do it was to not blend with his surroundings. Everything was ridiculously green and nature-y, the scowl on his face was deep as he sat on a mossy rock and waited for Rafa to show.

It was three in the morning and started as a harmless 'plink plink' noise against Kavinsky's window- something that could be easily mistaken as a branch swaying in the breeze or maybe the start of some hail. After a few of those the next sound was distinctly unsubtle: a rock came crashing through the glass, followed by a loud drunken howl from the fae outside.Threeway with demigods (
"VINNY! GET YOUR HOT BITCH ARSE BACK TO ME BEFORE I WRING YOUR GORGEOUS NECK, YA BASTARD! DO YOU HEAR ME?! I LOVE YA, YOU STUPID LITTLE SHIT!"

One day, around midnight, a sleepless Vex shows up at Nico and Will's door. Slightly tipsy, but not enough to call him inebriated, he pounds on the door until one of them answers. There, shirtless, clad in nothing but his leather pants and flip-flops, he leans against the door frame and stares at whomever was in front of him- regardless of who it was, his words were the same.
"Can both of ya screw me already?"
no subject
His eyes widened as he swallowed. "Come again? You're... oi, did you just casually drop the news that you're immortal at me you cheeky blighter?!" Alec accomplished it once more, he managed to make Vex grin again.
no subject
Alec grinned over at Vex, reaching for the bag to break off a piece of graham cracker and chewing on it, all the more casual.
no subject
The idea of which made him smile again as he skewered a marshmallow. He chuckled as he caught it on fire and let the skin blacken before he blew it out. "Does that count as an early birthday pressie for him or should we pity him for having to deal with the pair us forever?" He teased.
no subject
He saluted with two fingers, then ate the rest of the graham cracker, wiping his hand on the face of his pants with a chuckle.
"'Mix of both? A blessing and a curse," he said, picking his stick up again not to make himself a s'more but to stoke the embers of the fire a little, watching sparks float into the air and then burn out. When he turns his gaze to Vex again, he's a little more serious, but still open. He's curious. Vex has lived much longer than Alec has, so his perception of time and immortality is already much different.
"How does it feel, living that long?"
no subject
"Uh, well," Vex looked thoughtful, for once, as he considered that question. He was solving the problem of his own sticky fingers just by licking them while his brows furrowed. "Goes by like a flash, honestly. Feels like yesterday we were still taking baths by pulling water from the river and sending letters via a courier on a horse, yeah? Now it's all indoor plumbing and cellphones."
He set his stick aside and pulled out a piece of chocolate so he could idly pop pieces of it into his mouth. "Mm... blurse? Curess?" He was trying to combine 'blessing' and a 'curse' for a moment before he moved back onto the long-life topic. "Years feel like days, days feel like minutes. It's supposed to be what, four months I've been here? Doesn't feel it at all." It felt like he lost Mark just yesterday.
A scowl briefly touched his lips before his eyes dropped to the fire. "If you're anything like me, you won't feel the way time passes, but it does and it's gone in a flash."
no subject
"That would unsettle me more if it didn't come with more time than I can imagine," Alec said after a moment of quiet. Time passing quickly in such a way he didn't see it go would terrify Alec if his time was still limited. The thought of waking up one day next to Magnus realizing thirty years had gone by suddenly and he only had thirty left felt like a knot of anxiety in his stomach.
Thankfully, that wasn't going to be the case. He could wake up and realize thirty years had gone by, and that he had a hundred of them left to live.
"I guess we'll have each other to reminisce on the times," he teased, but then grew more somber again. A bit awed, hands linked and letting his gaze fall to the flames. "Now that I have forever, I can't wait to live that long. I can't tell if that's weird," he said, quiet. Most people saw immortality as a curse, didn't they? Yet it filled Alec's mind with a multitude of possibilities, all of them possible, since he'd have all the time in the world for them.
no subject
"No, it's not weird because you have someone to live forever with." Okay, that sounded far more depressing than he meant to, but Vex had a difficult time suppressing his emotions whatever the circumstance. He sighed, chewed on a bit of chocolate as if to defy his own tumultuous emotions and then spoke again.
"Have you two thought about kids yet?" A question Vex would normally never ask, but... he could remember talking about it with Mark.
no subject
He answered the question first, poking at the fire with his stick. A small smile appeared on Alec's lips.
"We have. We talked about it," he said, the smile almost serene. "I didn't think we could, before. But now there's time for things to change and to make it possible for us. One day."
It was clear in his tone that this was something he badly wished for. He didn't add to it, though, not wanting to add salt to the wound, and not needing to share more details than that. It had seemed impossible before, and this was another thing immortality would allow them to share.
no subject
"Would you do it here or wait 'til you 'save the world'," he said while motioning quotation marks with one hand. He wasn't quite sure if he believed all this, he had a feeling they were all screwed or being used by an entity who wanted to leech off their life force or something. "I wouldn't mind being an uncle again."
Damn, he missed Princess.
no subject
He shook his head, unknowingly relieved about not being thrown into the fire thank you very much, and then rubbed the back of his neck with a hand. As much as he wanted children one day, now didn't feel like the right time for either of them. That was another advantage of immortality. There was no rush, and he could rest assured it would work out eventually.
"Not here, no. A lot of warlock children are abandoned back home, and Shadowhunters orphaned," he said. Plenty of kids who need a loving home that they would be more than happy to take in in the future. He opened his mouth to say something else, but then a possibility occurred to him. They have forever now, don't they? There was no knowing how long they would have to be here. "I mean — Maybe, if we're stuck here for a while and a child needs a home," he said, frowning slightly as he stared into the fire. He didn't like to imagine a child being brought here, or why one might need new parents. "But not yet."
With a little grin to Vex, he added: "I'll let you know if we get a pet, uncle."
no subject
He began to put together another s'more to keep his mind away from it. "Well, whatever you do, don't make a rock troll one of your pets. I hate those blighters." He preferred small and fuzzy, thank you very much. "Funny, I haven't seen any kids 'round, have you?"
no subject
But it did help put a bit of Vex and Massimo's relationship in context.
"Thanks for the tip," he said, and meant it genuinely. "I haven't either, actually. Don't know that I'd be happy to."
It was not exactly a place for children, was it? Although the city had been looking better and better.
no subject
"Yeah, I suppose they shouldn't have to deal with the end of the world and whatnot. I cry enough for all of the snot-nosed little brats in the world." Not that Vex actually ever cried, and soon he filled his mouth with another serving of his crunchy, gooey confection.
no subject
There was a pause, the sounds of the fire, the forest around them filling it for a beat. It was not a sound Alec had been accustomed to before otherworldly travels, being from the city, but one he now liked. Alec looked up sharply, as if remembering something.
"Hey, I meant to ask... What's up with you and the Kavinsky guy?"
no subject
His mouth was twisted up into a painful-looking frown as he began to pick apart a marshmallow, tossing the pieces into the fire. "I still see him sometimes, dream of him... any-bloody-way, I was sick of sleeping alone and loved my boy to bits anyway so why not? Except he's threatened by the fae who isn't even here, uses some of his ruddy dream-magic to turn into him, make me think he's Mark, so naturally when I say of course I still love him what does Vin do? Flip out! As if I was going to be over him in a few months? Really? "
The rest of the marshmallow met a fiery fate as Vex threw the remainder in. "I know why he did it, he's just insecure. I get it. I told him let's try again, and he's told me to fuck off, so I don't know. I think I'm done with love."
no subject
It was not at all what Alec had expected to hear. From this story it was Kavinsky that was in the wrong entirely, and Vex that was completely reasonable, and while he wasn't about to go talk to Kavinsky for Vex's sake — he was making a mental note to stay away from him and make sure he wasn't going to keep making life for his friend hell when it came to his missing husband.
He might have throttled anyone who tried this with him. He may not ever have been in this situation to begin with, he understands how difficult it must be to lose your husband and then not be able to stand being alone and opening yourself up to someone else. And that person expecting you to have moved on without any sort of closure, holding it against you...
"Someone who's just insecure could ask you directly without messing with your head, you know," he said, breathing out harshly. He was angry, but given it wasn't his business and Vex seemed willing to give Kavinsky another chance, tried to contain it. "That's not right."
no subject
"It's not right, but honestly, did you expect me to be attracted to someone who does everything right? And if I were in his shoes, at that age? Bloody hell, Alec. At twenty I..." He trailed off, his throat visibly moving as he swallowed. He couldn't even begin to describe the heinous things he did at Kavinsky's age, let alone to Alec.
He was his friend, but that didn't mean he was immune to the crimes of Vex's past.
"Honestly, he's just got troubles. No one's perfect. I care about him, yeah? My son was a lot worse than Vin is. There's still hope for Vin, at least." He thought, but maybe he wasn't the best judge.
no subject
"Maybe if he can understand why that was... fucked up of him to do in the first place," he said, hoping that much was true, but doubting it so far. That didn't mean Kavinsky never could, just that he'd seen no evidence of it yet. Alec wanted better for Vex. At a time like this, hurting as he was, he wanted him to have someone reliable at his side, not... someone who would do something like that to him.
But it wasn't his place. Vex coped differently than Alec did, the two of them polar opposites. There was no rhyme or reason to pushing his own perception of the situation on his friend.
"You still want to help him, even after that?" It wasn't an admonition. It was curious, almost. This was a side of Vex that Alec liked. The one that cared for someone no matter what happened.
no subject
"I dunno if he'll ever get it, maybe he will, maybe he won't, or maybe it'll take him awhile. He's a vamp now, he's got forever. Or until the universe ends." Which, in Vex's opinion, will probably happen sooner rather than later but he didn't bring that up right now.
"Isn't that what you do? Help people? Or is it just a protection gig?"
