Summary: Barclay and Kenzi have moved into a lighthouse home, and are throwing a housewarming. Everybody is invited— via Meow Meowd, Kenzi's daemon. Have drinks! Make merry! There are 3 unused bedrooms to abuse, and for those of you with magic, the oceanside location could definitely use some warding/fortification if D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. should ever come.

Welcome to casa del Kenzi and Barclay, a beautiful oceanside lighthouse with a spacious attached home! Behold, there's a rooftop lounge breathing bright in the open air, a living room with sprawling windows, and two spare bedrooms, all of it in an interesting mix of blue and purple walls within the spacious interior. Check it out! The furniture and decor consist of both modern and vintage choices. Put together, it's as odd a fit as the couple who lives there now.

You might be relieved to know that the raccoon and possum running around are just their daemons. It's pretty clean overall! After all they were expecting guests.

It would appear that Kenzi and Barclay absconded with every bit of alcohol that spawned in the city of Xistentia. You have blue gin, whisky that glows, vodkas in various bottles both plastic and glass, a half-dozen tasteful cognacs, and a range of beers including something in a clay pot that smells rather interesting.

If you're here to drink and/or make new friends, this would be the place. You can also, however, offer to help your hosts with magical wards and protections, considering they're out here on the beach, not far from where newcomers tend to crash and allegedly overlooking the ocean D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. will someday come. (Alternatively, tell them they're daft for taking the risk, however small.) It's gloriously peaceful right now, though.

So maybe what you should really be doing is to go for a swim in the blue water. There's at least one pirate who will race you, and a reformed lady thief who probably won't be going through your pockets if you left your clothes ashore.

Also give them presents. They love presents.

[ nico isn't sure why he's here. he knows kenzi a little bit, but he doesn't know her boyfriend. still, the invite had come and nico figured he might as well go. if only for free food and drinks. he's considering sneaking a bit back to his and will's apartment, so he's standing by the drinks table, perusing what's available to kill some time.

he's left a gift of a black blanket, very cozy and warm and he knows because he has the same one on his and will's bed. hopefully kenzi and her boyfriend will appreciate it. ]

[ Rafa moves up beside Nico, sliding their hands together by way of greeting. He gives his fingers a little squeeze. ]

No Will tonight?

[ He's gotten used to seeing them together. ]

Perhaps I could keep you company for a while.

[ smiling at rafa's arrival, nico lifts and drops his shoulders in a shrug. will's busy and he asked him to make some excuses, but nico figures the truth would be better. ]

He doesn't really know Kenzi. Plus, he's been working on his herbal garden lately. Trying to make sure he has a good surplus of stuff in case someone gets hurt.

[ someone likely being him and the thought prompts a wry smile. ]

I'd appreciate that. To be honest, I hardly know Kenzi myself, though I like her style.

[ the all black... definitely appeals to his aesthetic. ]

[ Rafa nods, unsurprised. ]

Yes, you could be siblings. Clear resemblance.

[ Except in their eyes, Rafa supposes. Kenzi has pale eyes to Nico's dark. Apart from that, it's almost uncanny. Vex probably delights in it.

Rafa moves a step closer, a little conspiratorial. ]

I do not know her either, but I know she is a friend of Vex, and I know her Barclay. I once tried to seduce him in Pandemonium, while he was dressed as a man-bat. I do not think he was used to such behaviour in men, but he reminded me of home. Originally, we were from similar times.

[ that makes nico laugh, his eyes lighting up as rafa reveals his little secret about their host. it amuses him to hear of it and he can see it in his mind's eye. ]

You tried to seduce our host? Why am I not surprised... And you know, I think Vex believes we are siblings. He thought so about Bo because she's the daughter of the Hades in their world. I also think he's got some ideas in his head that I am not really willing to try out. Knowing him, and all.

[ Rafa lifts his eyebrows, looking suddenly alarmed. He knows all about those strange kinks of Vex's. ]

Please tell me that you mean sharing a bed with a woman, and not anything that involves animal transformation.

[ that has nico immediately making a face of mild panic. dear gods, what a horrifying thought. ]

[ waving his hands as if the action might dispel the idea in his head. thanks rafa. that's a lot. ]

I meant I think he'd want me to hook up with Kenzi! Not- Not whatever- Ugh! Gods, that's just gross!

[ Yes, sorry about that. He's had that image in his head for months, so it's about time he shared it with someone else. ]

[ He gestures, then makes a face. ]

Apparently he is just as attracted to the animal form as to the human one. Which is sweet, I suppose, if a little…

[ He wrinkles his nose. ]

I am not alone in thinking it strange, then? I believed I would try anything once, but Vex has shown me I was wrong.

[ gee, thanks rafa. now he won't be able to get it out of his head and it just makes him wonder a little about whether his sister and frank are- nope, not even going there. ]

It's completely strange, dude. It's just— I mean, ew. I can't believe him, but I mean it's Vex so he's into a lot of things, but- but still!

[ as he speaks, he gestures wildly with his hands. IT'S SO GROSS TO HIM even if half his godly relatives have taken animal forms and slept with mortals that way ( he's thinking of zeus right now and shuddering ). ]

[ Rafa winces with sympathy. He's also considerably amused now. This could only have been improved had Vex been here to witness it, and now Rafa's sorry that he wasn't. ]

Yes, I know. It is something that did not even occur to me until Vex mentioned it. I believe he was hoping I would agree.

[ A pause. ]

I did not agree. On this one, he is on his own. Wine?

[ He asks, while plucking two glasses off the nearest table. ]

[ nico eagerly takes the offered glass, still grimacing at the very knowledge that's been implanted in his head. he all but downs the wine in one swallow, hoping it'll drive some of those thoughts from his brain. ]

Maybe if I have enough of this, I'll forget this conversation ever happened.

[ That makes Rafa laugh all the more. He would apologize, but he's glad to have found a kindred spirit. ]

You see, this is what I would call a normal reaction. Vex would be disbelieving, I am sure.

[ jerking his now empty glass at rafa. ]

Mind you, half my family tree has taken on animal forms for getting with mortals but... I mean they're gods so it's different.

[ making another face. ]

Right? Gods, I need something stronger than this.

[ Oh, okay. Now you're getting a look.

But drinks first. Rafa holds up a finger, and disappears to snag more glasses off a table. Surely Barclay and Kenzi won't mind. ]

[ The fresh glass is held out to Nico. ]

How is that different, exactly? It would seem you have this predilection in your blood, my friend.

[ at the mention of predilections, nico just downs the second glass and shudders. ]

Nope. No way. Not even if Percy Jackson himself turned into a dolphin. Not. Happening. Besides, my dad never did it. That was usually Apollo or Zeus.

[ another shudder. ]

[ Uh huh. Rafa looks skeptical, particularly now that Percy's been mentioned. ]

Is that not the boy who once approached Eudio's network with a sex toy shaped like a dolphin?

[ He's sure that's the one. ]

Ugh. Yes, that's him. [ pinching the bridge of his nose now, completely and thoroughly exasperated. very much in the way someone might get with a beloved child. though in nico's case, only the beloved part applies. ( even if percy does occasionally act like a child. ) ] He's such a kelphead sometimes.

[ Rafa knew it. His smile gets wider. ]

So, then the gods are not the only one with an interest in...this kind of thing.

[ He takes a sip of his drink, watching Nico through his eyelashes. ]

[deathkid]

[ chokes on his own drink. ]

That doesn't mean that he-! And I'd never-! We'd never...! Gross, dude! I so don't want to think of Percy being into... Ugh!

[ Rafa can't help laughing. This is turning out to be a wonderful occasion. ]

Are you quite certain? There is always the chance it runs in families. Technically, you are related to Percy, are you not?

[deathkid]

[ waving his hands dramatically. ]

Not at all! The godly side doesn't count! There's no DNA or anything involved, gods.

[ Rafa points at him. ]

There is something. You get their magic, their powers. Do you suppose that is coincidence?

[deathkid]

[ urrrrgh hiding his face in his hands ]

Why are you trying to make it seem like I would do anything like that! I wouldn't!

[ Pause. ]
