Characters: Kenzi, Barclay & you!
Summary: Barclay and Kenzi have moved into a lighthouse home, and are throwing a housewarming. Everybody is invited— via Meow Meowd, Kenzi's daemon. Have drinks! Make merry! There are 3 unused bedrooms to abuse, and for those of you with magic, the oceanside location could definitely use some warding/fortification if D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. should ever come.

Welcome to casa del Kenzi and Barclay, a beautiful oceanside lighthouse with a spacious attached home! Behold, there's a rooftop lounge breathing bright in the open air, a living room with sprawling windows, and two spare bedrooms, all of it in an interesting mix of blue and purple walls within the spacious interior. Check it out! The furniture and decor consist of both modern and vintage choices. Put together, it's as odd a fit as the couple who lives there now.

You might be relieved to know that the raccoon and possum running around are just their daemons. It's pretty clean overall! After all they were expecting guests.

It would appear that Kenzi and Barclay absconded with every bit of alcohol that spawned in the city of Xistentia. You have blue gin, whisky that glows, vodkas in various bottles both plastic and glass, a half-dozen tasteful cognacs, and a range of beers including something in a clay pot that smells rather interesting.

If you're here to drink and/or make new friends, this would be the place. You can also, however, offer to help your hosts with magical wards and protections, considering they're out here on the beach, not far from where newcomers tend to crash and allegedly overlooking the ocean D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. will someday come. (Alternatively, tell them they're daft for taking the risk, however small.) It's gloriously peaceful right now, though.

So maybe what you should really be doing is to go for a swim in the blue water. There's at least one pirate who will race you, and a reformed lady thief who probably won't be going through your pockets if you left your clothes ashore.

Also give them presents. They love presents.

[ Hello, housewarming party, the excitement has truly arrived. With her two boyfriends, no less. Things are still a little noticeably tense between the ménage à trois but they're figuring it out. Rose splits off from them early enough, able to be found wistfully gazing out one of the many windows with a glass of wine in hand. There's a lot on her mind these days, honestly, about Eudio, Xistentia, and cute boys causing nothing but trouble. Not necessarily in that order.

She did bring a gift though for the happy couple and their new abode. It was more Farraige's idea than hers, what with his water-themed puns at any given opportunity. Still! She hopes they like it. Or, if they don't, she hopes it at least causes a smile to come to their faces at how absolutely ridiculous it is.

After a couple glasses of wine, she's gotten on a pink bikini. She seems less worried about revealing her scars than she used to be. But she isn't swimming just yet, instead opting to stare out at the waves as if she's assessing if she's brave enough to actually dive into them. Part of her wants to believe that she is, but hte other part is... unsure. It was only a couple months that she was trembling like a leaf at being in knee-high water, after all. ]

[Barclay receives the gift two-handed, and he's drunk enough to forget formality-- which means he's pretty damn drunk. Immediately, he carries it over to the nearest surface-- it turns out to be a bookcase that contains only a few books, and quite a lot of seashells retrieved from up and down the beach— and immediately starts tearing through the wrapping. When the doormat emerges, he's pleased, a chuckle shaking through his lean shoulders.]

I love it, [he tells her.] This is the phrase of appreciation, is it not? The contemporary people of Eudio tended to exaggerate with their emotions. But I like it very much, and you must come help me put it outside. [He tosses a friendly arm around her shoulders, giving her a delighted half-hug.] You look lovely. Who's the fellow with the grassy coiff you brought in with you? For some reason, I'd been under the impression Vanyel had come with--

[ It's actually rather nice to see Barclay having such a good time. And, y'know, just see him in person. They'd always corresponded via text so she has to admit this has been pretty nice, getting to actually interact with the individual behind the words. ]

Yeah, you've got it, [ she answers, barely holding in a half-laugh herself. ] I'd be glad to, dude! [ She doesn't mind the affection in the slightest; she can recognize it immediately as friendly. It's strange to think how much her instincts have changed. She supposes being in a place nicknamed 'cuddle city' will do that to a person though. ]

Grassy- Oh! I call it kelp, myself, but. That's Farraige! He's boyfriendo number two.

[She's a bit shorter than he imagined somehow, how bright and bawdy she is over the Internet had always led him to think of her as larger than she is in life. But Barclay isn't so drunk as to mention it.] Very nice, [he says.] I imagine that is some form of commercially available hair-dye or a wig, the likes of which my own paramour enjoys, rather than natural? No? I don't know anymore, the multiverse is a mysterious place.

[He bangs his cup of drink against her cup of drink in a welcoming way, spilling very little, because alcohol is a precious resource.]

Kelp is a good one. I don't recognize that name of origin for anything. It's not Japanese is he? I might have completely lost track of what Japanese people are supposed to look and be named like. And I don't remember him from Eudio.

[ She may be small but she still carries herself large as can be. Usually. Today, she might be just acting a little more her actual size. It's been rough in the life of Rosalina lately. Boy troubles and all. ] It's actually magic, [ she says but any more than that is Farraige's to disclose, not hers. ] Or something like that!

[ She smiles as their glasses clink, bringing it to her lips almost immediately after. She's still not drunk enough to exist most days it feels like. It's also possible Rose is being extremely dramatic. ] It's.

Actually, I don't know! Not Japanese. Maybe it's French? It has a lot of vowels like French does at least.

Mmmm, [says Barclay, thoughtfully. If he were his old conservative, critical self, he would disapprove she hasn't run pedigree check on Farraige. But fortunately, he's no longer shitty that way, nodding instead from over his drink. Possibly French. There are worse people to date. The Spanish, for example. Don't date the Spanish, now.] Magic sounds promising. Keep you on your toes, make the parties and dates somewhat more exciting, I hope.

It's your turn, [he adds after a moment.] To ask about changes with Mackenzie and I. I mean as you can see, things have been progressing nicely. But there are significant ones that I would value your advice on, not immediately visible to your eyes. Probably. You are three-hundred-years-old, I'm not entirely certain what your bag of tricks are--

[He's drunk. He gestures rather drunkenly with a hand, which winds up falling to a bottle of liquor standing nearby, and he fetches that up to try to add to her current drink regardless of what's already in it.] But in the interest of reciprocity, I won't unload unless asked.

[ Wow, Spanish men and women are so hot though! Barclay. My man. Rosie is thinking you might need to re-evaluate your standards a little bit. ] It does. He specializes in water magic, actually, and that's very useful. Especially when it comes to giving eight dogs a bath.

[ Ah, well. It looks like her drink is a mixer now. The blond just smiles about it, not really minding the drunken offering. If she keeps up her pace then she'll likely be joining him in alcohol-induced camaraderie. ]

Then consider yourself asked, [ she says. ] What's the haps with you and Kenzi? Everything smooth sailing?

Yes. More or less. [Barclay sits back heavily in his seat, enjoying the press of cushions against the small of his back. Life sho' is easy here, in this place where everything you could possibly want, or at least a close variant thereof, will spawn out of virtual nothing into actual reality.] I think the truth remains, that she has much that she misses in her home world or in Eudio, and I've nothing to go back to but her.

[This is not actually true. But Barclay spent most of his life telling himself that he didn't need Cassidy, and assuring himself that Cassidy had surely outgrown him, at some point between stabbing him in the back with fifty knives and giving him his table scraps. Bitterness has a way of twisting the lovely parts of actual love. Anyway: he's used to going without. His life had been impossibly small before Eudio, and despite her diminutive height, she's become his universe.

As much as he lets any one person do.]

So I distract her best I can. Helping her paint the walls with the colors she chooses, [which have been purple and blue,] and bother her daemon, watch the strange films that she likes and go on various hunts for shoes and adventure. I cannot tell if it's best not to court trouble by raising the subject, or if there's something I should say to comfort her more directly.

[ If only it could despawn her troubles caused by all these cute boys. That sure would be nice of F.A.T.E.S. Still, Rose too sinks back into a chair and crosses one leg neatly over the other. She rests an elbow on her knee and leans forward a little to signify that she's listening and taking this seriously. Which she is!

They're not a dissimilar position, in that regard. Vanyel has an entire life he's built, a home to return to. Rose only has death awaiting her. He's... She's hard-pressed to say he's everything because she's not sure any one thing or person is actually everything in a person's life, but. A lot of things these days in Rose's life at least lead back to or hinge on him. ]

You couldn't go with her, to her world? When it's saved? I'm going with Vanyel to Tamriel. [ She thinks. It honestly depends on the day or her mood whether or not she truly believes that's the end in store for her, but- It's easy enough to say, even if things are little rocky right now. ] I think it's worth talking about, at least. The possibilities.

[ It's also easy to tell people to do as you say and not as you do. ]

[There's a long moment's quiet as Barclay thinks about that, and then a slow smile that's probably more drunk than actually positive.] Yes. I'll approach it with her at the proper time, assuming I can remember after I've had a bit of water. [And possibly a sound night's rest, and a bit of a hangover. It doesn't sound like the kind of conversation one should have while one's brain is pounding ferociously inside the walls of one's skull.] It'd be no worse than my old life, a commoner in the echelons of human society, compared to a human among the faeries.

[He shrugs. In real life, the notion will chafe a bit, but right now he truly feels no pain.]

I'm going to refresh your drink and tell milady about the gift you'ce brought us, [he tells her.] Please help yourself, make yourself at home. Ruin the linens. [He ordinarily wouldn't be so forward. But it suits him, happiness. If you ask just about everyone but Vex.]

[ Kenzi is, like her boyfriend, a little tipsy by the time she circles back to Rosie. Mostly because she's on a mission now that Barclay has pointed her in the right direction.]

You-- [ she grins brightly, stupidly as she points at rosie.] You are a gift-giving genius. Teach me your ways.

[ She's already been accosted by the host, so she figured the hostess wouldn't be too far behind! The blond smiles in response, however, feeling a nice buzz after a decent amount of booze. ]

The trick is to not take yourself seriously at all. [ A beat. ] Also maybe be dating a guy with a thing for sea-themed puns. That helps. Does Barclay make unbearable nautical themed ones at least?

I am doing both of those tricks so... But alas, he is not really great with the puns. [ Pause.] Which isn't a bad thing.

Alright, well, then you're off to a great start!

[ Rose's smile only grows during that little pause. ]

My boyfriend could probably help him there. The things you do for love, y'know? Also, being able to give totally cool and hilarious gifts that beat everyone else's gifts.

[ A lot of assumptions being made there.

Also, that's the closest to saying she loves Farraige that she's ever gotten. In reality, 'love' is a bit of a strong word for what they currently have but... They'll get there. Someday. She hopes so, anyway. ]
