Summary: Mandy's Masquerade hosts a fantastic Halloween party with a costume contest, some very special cocktails, and a few other surprises.

Mandy's is looking a bit festive this evening. Arrayed with spiderwebs, pumpkins, and other ghoulish decorations, the interior resembles a spooky haunted house. Spooky, not scary! Everyone's invited to stop by and celebrate All Hallow's Eve with spirited drinks, excellent company, and a lot of that Magnus flair.

You can loosen up on the dance floor to Monster Mash, Thriller, Dead Man's Party, or maybe something from this list. The spooky sky's the limit! Visit the bar for one of several special drinks you won't soon forget. You can also sample some tasty and holiday-appropriate baked goods, courtesy of the other Mr. Lightwood-Bane. Finally, stop by the table with the MAGIC 8 BALL to learn a little more about your fellow partygoers.

Siren Song
If you're a little tone-deaf, don't fret. This drink will turn you into a master at serenading. It won't actually give you the ability to influence anyone via magical means, but maybe if your song choice is apt, you'll woo someone either way!

Firework!
A drink that comes with a portable fireworks show hovering over its surface. Drinking it will give you the sensation of ingesting liquid pop-rocks.

Blacklight
Does what it says on the tin and makes the drinker glow under a black light. It's also kind of sour.

Frankenstein's Monster
This drink is quite shocking. Not dangerously so, but when you drink it, you'll have the impression of getting a tingling little jolt of electricity down your spine. It's aliiiiive.

To Be or Not To Be (A Daemon)
Drink this and you will find you've been magically swapped with your daemon. It only lasts ten minutes, but hey! You'll get to see how the other half lives. A note: you won't inherit one another's abilities!

Who Wore It Best?
costume contest

Congratulations to our costume contest winners!

In first place for individual costumes...

Rafa wins for his devilish costume and he'll be awarded 2 potions: the first of which will up his luck stat, granting him good fortune in an endeavor (it says "Deal with the Devil" on the bottle) and the second will up his persuasion stat, helping him to be more successful in an argument (it says "The Devil's Advocate" on the bottle).

In second place for individual costumes...

Nico plunders the second place spot and will be given a treasure chest full of chocolates that are rum flavored. Careful, they pack a bit of a punch and when consumed, they'll make whoever eats them feel especially happy. No sad drunks here!

In third place for individual costumes...

Zeke and his amazingly sunny costume are in third and he wins a sunflower plant that will never cease to bloom and seems to have a bit of a glow about it. Plus, perpetual supply of sunflower seeds?

In first place for couples costumes...

Magnus and Alec came first for their portrayal of... each other... and they win a pair of seemingly mundane t-shirts that say "Bennet" and "Darcy" on them. What's that about?

In second place for couples costumes...

Vex and Kenzi delighted with their take on the Addams' family patriarch and matriarch and won second place. As a prize, Kenzi will be given a shampoo and conditioner set that seems pretty innocuous until you check out the writing on the bottles: 'Have YOU ever wanted hair like Cousin Itt? Are you ever in luck!' Just a small amount will make her locks lustrous and smooth. Vex will be given a very lifelike and animated hand in a box.

In third place for couples costumes...

Rose and Kaz were drop dead gorgeous in their mafia-inspired garb. As prizes, they will receive the following: for Rose, a pair of magical die that make music when thrown, and for Kaz, a set of playing cards that are intricately illustrated with astonishing art that seems to move. Watch out for the face cards, they get very opinionated about your playing. They both also receive a chip that can be relinquished to Magnus for a small magical favor.

[ when nico enters the room, it's in an elaborate pirate costume, complete with his stygian iron sword at his hip. behind him is a group of five zombies that shuffle along. they don't seem interested in anyone, so fear not. and if anything, they seem to be moving as if they are on puppet strings, which isn't far from the truth considering they're under nico's complete control.

as he makes his way through the bar, he approaches the place where music is being played and leans over to change the music. soon enough, a certain song begins playing and nico smirks as he gives an elaborate wave of his hand. the zombies shuffle towards the middle of the room, taking up space, and as the chorus begins playing, the zombies begin to dance.

when the song ends, nico gives another wave of his hand and the zombies burrow their way into the floor, disappearing as the ground shakes a little. the floor returns to the state it had been and nico steps forward, giving a bow. ]

[ when nico isn't on the dancefloor with someone, he can be found at the bar, nibbling at the food and sipping different drinks. the one he seems to like the most is ❝Blacklight❞ given his affinity towards anything black. eventually, he turns to the person next to him and holds out his glass to toast with a grin. ]

[ after a few drinks, feeling pumped up on his own power, the alcohol in his system, and the thrill at getting second place in the costume contest, nico is feeling a bit fast and loose. he shuffles away from the bar and as soon as he comes across someone, nearly bumping into them, he reaches out and takes their hand. you are now being pulled out onto the dance floor to boogie as nico snaps his fingers. he'll lean forward to whisper dark things in your ear, if you let him, pressing himself close. ]

[ Rafa lifts his glass with a smile, and without hesitation says: ]

[ He takes a sip of his drink, the delightfully named Frankenstein's Monster. It immediately sends a little shiver along his spine, and he grins at Nico. ]

I must wonder at Italians who prefer Greek, you know. Our own tongue is so much sweeter, Nico.

[ gulping down some of his own, nico thrills in how it burns on the way down. he closes his eyes for a few seconds and just lets the magic of the drink do its work before looking down at rafa. ]

Greek is just as much my birth language as Italian. But I think I see your point. It's amazing how many people get turned on merely by hearing us speak.

[ Rafa nods, having experienced that phenomenon himself. He gives Nico a wry smile. ]

Vex, I assume? He was always thrilled by it. Perhaps that is why he likes us both.

[ Though, they have other similarities too. Short stature, dark hair, dark eyes…it's a pattern. Rafa shrugs that off. ]

How are you, Nico? You look very swashbuckling tonight.

[deathkid]

[ the smile is mirrored as nico huffs a laugh, lifting and dropping his shoulders. his hands go into his pockets as he rolls his eyes and nods as well. ]

We should just get him to admit he has a fetish.

[ because it certainly seems that way, when he recalls any time he's spoken italian in vex's presence. ]

I'm doing pretty good. I'll even tell you a secret. When I was little and before I learned I was a demigod, I was obsessed with pirates. Kinda the reason I went with this costume for the night.

[ Rafa laughs. If he were less jealous, he'd suggest the two of them accost Vex together, each speaking Italian into one of his ears. That would be fun.

But Rafa is not less jealous, and he will not play that game again. It's better this way. ]

That is a worthy dream. Did you meet Cassidy, in Eudio? He was a pirate. A delightful one, whose company I liked. It is a shame he is not here. He even had a ship there. He took me on it, once or twice.

[ one day, rafa will understand that nico is no competition for him, that nico would never stand in his way if he thought that rafa and vex would make a good match. but as things are, he's only fractionally aware of rafa's jealousy and what he does know of it, he doesn't want to provoke. so he lets the topic drop, finding ease in this other one. ]

I don't think I did. That's too bad. There were a lot of interesting people in Eudio, though I tended to keep to a small group. I'm still working on my people skills, if that might surprise you.

[ Rafa shrugs his shoulders. ]

You seem to do reasonably. You have friends, Nico.

Should Cassidy ever come here, I will introduce you to him. You'd like him, I am sure.

[ Rose watches the monster mash going on with decided interest. It's certainly no Skeletons on Parade. ]

I did it better, [ she has to say, once his show is over.

But the cheeky grin she sports already tells him that she doesn't mean it. If it didn't, she follows it up with, ] Nah, but seriously dude. Cool show.

Can you like... do that whenever?

[ She also kind of wants to ask where the zombies come from, like. If they're actually zombies or just weird psuedo-formed beings from souls from the Underworld but that's. A little much to process for her tipsy self right now. ]

[ asked with a raised brow as he crosses his arms over his chest. i mean, c'mon rosie. he had actual zombies doing the zombie dance from thriller. how can it be better than that? ]

And yeah, basically. I have power over the undead, so whenever I want them to do something, I just summon them.

I did, absolutely. Skeletons on Parade by Ludo with actual magical dancing skeletons.

[ Her skeletons were so much cooler, alright! ]

They weren't mine though, they were Magnus'. So I guess you got me beat there... All I can do is make things icy.
