I would assume death gods are more choosy about their tributes and sacrifices. No mere life would suffice.

It's not really a sacrifice. We were entertainment in a fight to death. I've won several times and therefore each time my prize was immortality until the next games.

These are some rather capricious gods. Had they nothing better to do with their time? What a waste.

I long ago gave up on trying to understanding the whims and folly of deities.

I am not opposed but I have not searched out any opportunity to do so.

I happen to be a God. Such things lends itself to my interests.

I can assure you I have better things to do with my time than to create meaningless contests for sport.

What do you spend your time doing then?

Not elaborate death games. I am the god of mischief. I prefer to learn and adapt.

Mischief had plenty of place in games but many have a hand in mischief and chaos.

I have not thought the gods would care much to learn or adapt.

Mischief with the ultimatum of death does not sound like mischief I would endorse.

I am different from other gods.

Those who are really different don't usually feel the need to state such.

Those who are different often seek to find ways to blend in. Why would I bother?

Sometimes I suppose that is true. Mischief is something that can rarely be trusted, though.

Mischief does not exist for the sake of trust. Mischief exists to make life a little more lively, to add colour to the seams. Of course, it is not for everyone.

Have you never played tricks before? Simply to watch someone splutter away?

I never had time for such things.

[ Maybe a couple thousand years ago in a life he chooses to pretend that he has forgotten. ]
