Worst Job(s) Held: That might be a toss-up between escorting a ship full of animal droppings through enemy waters and nearly anything involving politics. At least the former was a one-way trip (to the bottom of the ocean, but nonetheless). I got less muck on my shoes, too.

Best Job(s) Held: Transportation adviser to the queen of France. Club owner in multiple universes. I did a brief turn as a private investigator, trench coat and all. Oh, speakeasy operator! No trench coat for that one.

Fantasy Job(s): Perhaps one day I'll open a night club in outer space...

Current Job(s): High warlock. Until recently, club owner. Baked good taste tester. I also work full-time as one half of the Lightwood-Bane Coalition for Uninterrupted Date Nights.

I imagine the short answer is that it is a dangerous thing.

For now I am still adjusting to this strange world. Once I am properly settled I will be exploring in more depth. When I do I'll make sure to record anything useful and pass it along.

Would I be right in guessing Carbuncle is the name of your daemon? Or the type of creature?

My 'daemon' calls itself Emeraldd, though it is one of my summons classified as a Carbuncle. We are currently having a feud over the inaccuracy of its name.

[ the biggest of feuds. you would think she was an amateur arcanist with how much her summon disobeys her now. ]

A feud? Well, that sounds serious! Hard to get much done if you're having a disagreement like that, I'd imagine.

[ Not that he can't relate to having a bit of difficulty with his own daemon. ]

It will obey if absolutely necessary. Otherwise it is much like a disobedient feline. I'm hoping it will get bored and accept that I will not call it 'Emerald' when it is Topaz or Ruby.

Ah, I see. It changes forms?

Yours truly is very familiar with the disobedient feline problem. Not that my daemon is a feline! My husband's is though...

Colour and abilities, and only if I wish.

The cats that I have experience with have all been rather obedient. Though I believe my friend inherited an estate with a rather ill tempered feline and may be able to assist me.

That's very interesting. Not something I've heard of! The forms these daemons take are curious indeed.

A friend, here? Expertise at handling individualistic felines is certainly an acquired skill.

Sometimes their forms can be cruel.

Yes, a companion from my home arrived recently.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but since you mention it, that makes me wonder if their form can be permanently changed. And it makes me wonder how the form is chosen in the first place.

I'm glad you've been reunited! I hope there will be more reunions in the future.

I still hope to see my young friends again soon. It would be a great relief to know they're safe.

I thought of asking my daemon, but it seems a little rude. They might have some characteristics that make them difficult from time to time, but they're very aware!

Perhaps soon you will! There are a few friendly faces I'd love to see myself.

Considering it is often quite rude I am not afraid of being rude to it in return. It had forced me to welcome my friend here in nothing but my underthings. It still owes me recompense for that.

Perhaps! I can only hope.

That does seem above and beyond. The worst mine has done is hint that I asked something foolish. My husband's chases mine a little, but as I said, his is a cat and mine is a butterfly. I think I'd be expecting too much if I asked that never happen.

I don't think it hurts to be optimistic!

A disadvantage to my range of skill sets is that if I want to use my white magic I need to equip the appropriate white magic cane, which then locks the rest of my skills until I switch weapons once again. So with a cane I would be unable to access my black magic until I equipped a rod instead. And when I switch my gear sets my clothing automatically changes as well...

So it is too clever for my own good. Though I do not see what it gained from embarrassing my poor companion.

As long as one's optimism does not blind one to realism.

That's a very complicated kind of mischief to be getting into.

If it weren't so disruptive to you and your companion, I'd say it's almost clever! As it is, not so much.

It has been my stalwart companion for enough years I would be more surprised if it didn't know how to take advantage. Still, the timing it needed was rather complex. I'm not sure if I should be proud of it or not.

If you could make use of that timing in the future and use it to your advantage, that could be pretty convenient!

If, that is.

When used on me I doubt it will ever be convenient. But on enemies it has used its timing to devastating effect quite often.

There's something reassuring about hearing that, I have to say. Though I'm still sympathetic to your plight! It's nice that there's a potential silver lining.

Yes! Now if only it would respond to my commands more promptly in battle. Then I would have no complaints.

What kind of delay are you experiencing? How long, I mean.

[astralera]

Five to ten seconds. Usually eight. Long enough that it is an inconvenience in battle. Though it is the same with Lily, so I imagine it has something to do with transferring orders to a being made of aether. Perhaps there is a translation delay.
