Employment AMA; Daemon: Celestiald

EMPLOYMENT AMA

Preferred Alias: Jaden

Worst Job(s) Held: real life mannequin; pool cleaner (you have no idea how gross people are, on several levels); bounty hunter; werewolf (not sure it counts, but it sure as hell feels like a job)

Best Job(s) Held: tailoring intern; spelling bee champion (my mother considered it a real job. my allowance was based on where i placed); big brother; football player (high school, so not technically a job)

Fantasy Job(s): middle linebacker for the New England Patriots

Current Job(s): still a bounty hunter, I guess, although I've not had any work since arriving here. If you're looking for someone to perform a job for you, I am available. I guess, if you really need a suit done, I can look into that, too. I'd rather not.

Ask Me Anything!

Similar to a pack of direwolves? I am grateful that my companions do not have a pack mentality in that case. Sometimes it is necessary for one to walk away from those they care for.

I rescued an orphaned wolf pup in my home world and he was quite different from the direwolves, though only in tameness and appearance. He was much, much cuter.

I enjoy being left alone, but the company of my friends is equally as precious to me as time to myself.

Possibly. Though looking closer to a direwolf from my world would not be the most complimentary of comparisons as they look rather mentally inept. Occasionally they also act as though they lack a brain.

They are quite funny. I feel as though they only survive in the wild due to sheer stubbornness and luck.

Being able to find shelter, hunt, and defend oneself.

I have never met someone capable of turning into a wolf, though I have heard of shapeshifters and have occasionally been spelled into the form of a toad. [ the Heretics and their ability to turn into bastardized dragons immediately comes to mind as well. ] You can do it at will?

Some Voidsent will wear the skin of a human. Though the most prevalent type of purposeful shapeshifting I've seen was from a portion of Ishgardian Elezen. They were able to transform into a form of Aevis thanks to a crime committed by their ancestors a thousand years past.

An Aevis is a species of dragon.

An Elezen looks like a Hyur - a human in your terms - save for being a good deal taller and having longer, pointed ears. The Holy See of Ishgard is a city-state occupied mostly by Elezen, though there are some Hyur.

Some Ishgardian knights of a thousand years past ate an eye stolen from a dragon they slew, igniting the thousand year war with the dragons. Most descendants were not aware they could transform because of their forefather's act of war.

May I ask how tall you are?

So you would be slightly above the average height of a Highlander male.

The tallest of the races are male Au Ra at just over 7' and the shortest are the Lalafell at under 3'. My friend here is of average height for an Elezen at 6'8".

There is quite the disparity between the races in Eorzea compared to the population here.

Yes. There are many racial slurs thrown about, and there is often an undercurrent tension, but Eorzeans are generally peaceful and if they hold racist views will usually just stick to insults rather than violence. Microaggressions, if you will. A majority of us live in harmony with each other and do not judge based on someone's sex or race.

There are two subsets to each race, and one is often viewed much differently than the other. For example, it is not uncommon for Duskwright Elezen and Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te to be considered savages while their counterparts Wildwood and Seekers of the Sun are not. Most commonly it is not race but nationality that is treated with the most disdain.

One of the most distressing thing I have come to learn is that Eorzea considers mixed-race relationships taboo. I once met two men who were forced to flee their homes because they were in love. One was a Hyur while the other was a Miqo'te. While one might have casual sex with another of a different race and not be looked down on for it, apparently being in love is unacceptable.

[ her recent contemplation regarding her own feelings toward one handsome Ishgardian Elezen has made this fact slightly more personal. not that she was entirely aware of her dokis at the time of this thread lol )': ]

That is one thing I will never understand. We are all alive and we are all equals. No race is 'below' another. You would think that the races of men - mortal or otherwise - would understand that with all of our intellect.

What would be so frightening about a hybrid Vampire and Werewolf?

It is interesting that hybrids are possible in your world. In mine, the result of a mixed race coupling is a child that takes after their mother's race. It is a very rare thing, and even rarer still if the child takes on any visible traits of their father's race as well. I have a friend whose mother was a Hyur and whose father was an Elezen and she looks like an average Hyur save for the points of her ears.

If an Au Ra like myself were to have a relationship with a Hyur or Elezen the child would look like an average Au Ra. Perhaps taller than usual if it were a girl or shorter if it were a boy, and possibly with noticeably fewer scales.

Ishgard still holds some similar sentiments, though as their current leader is not 'pure' and they adore him I imagine they will start to hold such things less dear to their hearts soon enough. They would almost never outright kill a mixed breed, though I have the feeling the Vampires of your world likely would.

Things like smiles and chins and noses and eye colour are all equally inherited in my world as well. It is just the physiological differences in races that are most noticeable as they are quite different from one another. A child might have all of her father's features but still be considered to look like her mother for the mere fact that she is a Miqo'te and not a Hyur.

I quite like the idea of an equal blend of genes among the hybrids like it is in your world.

I have met a fae here. He looked very human. Is shapeshifting also a trait of fae?

And if a human and a Were have a shapeshifter child, are they only capable of shifting into one form?
