Characters: Vex & you
Summary: Vex has been in what he dubbed "this hellhole" for four months and he's more than a little furious with everything and everyone. This is a catch-all for various activities. Ping [plurk.com profile] thefacelessevil if you want a special starter.
Date(s): September.
Warnings/Notes: language, smut, Vex being Vex

Hunting trip with his vamp ([personal profile] mordacita)
Vex didn't say much, just a quick text that said something along the lines of 'hey, short dark and vampy, let's go kill shite' with the location of where he'd be. It was the forest near his home, and Vex was decked out in his snug leather pants, tight sleeveless leather shirt and heavy boots despite the stifling hot weather.

He had a wicked dagger strapped to his belt, paired with a compound bow in his hands and arrows in a quiver on his back (had someone been taking lessons with Alec, or did he always know how to shoot?), all of it was black of course, because if there was one thing Vex knew how to do it was to not blend with his surroundings. Everything was ridiculously green and nature-y, the scowl on his face was deep as he sat on a mossy rock and waited for Rafa to show.
Winning the ex back? ([personal profile] pillz)
It was three in the morning and started as a harmless 'plink plink' noise against Kavinsky's window- something that could be easily mistaken as a branch swaying in the breeze or maybe the start of some hail. After a few of those the next sound was distinctly unsubtle: a rock came crashing through the glass, followed by a loud drunken howl from the fae outside.

"VINNY! GET YOUR HOT BITCH ARSE BACK TO ME BEFORE I WRING YOUR GORGEOUS NECK, YA BASTARD! DO YOU HEAR ME?! I LOVE YA, YOU STUPID LITTLE SHIT!"

That's amore.
Threeway with demigods ([personal profile] deathkid and [personal profile] healingdork)
One day, around midnight, a sleepless Vex shows up at Nico and Will's door. Slightly tipsy, but not enough to call him inebriated, he pounds on the door until one of them answers. There, shirtless, clad in nothing but his leather pants and flip-flops, he leans against the door frame and stares at whomever was in front of him- regardless of who it was, his words were the same.

"Can both of ya screw me already?"

The choice of words did make Alec look at Vex, but only briefly. He knew Vex well enough by now to know that his priority was always self preservation, that he would also choose his own safety over anyone else's. It was not something Alec could understand, being the opposite of his own approach to just about everything in life. But he knew this about Vex, and by now, accepted it. It didn't seem like the right time to push and ask what that meant, though, so he tucked it away for later.

He was more displeased by the reference of him being a former Shadowhunter, and kept even that down to a simple little glower as he sandwiched his marshmallow between two crackers and a piece of chocolate. His first bite left him with crumbs and stickiness on his fingers, which he was not very pleased with.

"I'm not a former anything," he said, frowning at his fingers and finishing his s'mores, holding his hand like he was dangling roadkill from his fingertips. He looked over at Vex again, wanting to be quick to agree. Vex likely did not want any reminders of what he was missing, and Alec understood that well enough. Being surrounded by couples when you were separated from your own significant other had to be some sort of torture, one he wouldn't want to inflict on his friend.

However.

However.

"Are you and Hunter still kind of... a thing?"

Alec was imagining that a trip with the three of them would end up with Alec being the third wheel, either having to pretend he didn't know where they'd run off to for the past whatever minutes or put up with some likely lewd flirting he would not want to be witness to.

"Didn't think nature would be the thing to stop you," he scoffed, but he wasn't not being a snob about it, just mildly amused. Alec didn't necessarily consider it a deterrent, so he hadn't imagined Vex would. "And yes, I am. There are people here who can't fight. I can."

Given Alec's duty was protecting humanity, he absolutely was trying to do his old job. It was different, to be sure, as there were no demons he was familiar with to kill. Yet he still considered it his duty to watch out for others and eliminate any threats to their safety.

His next s'more ready, he squished it between chocolate and a cracker again.

"You don't think we could take a troll?"

"You wasted one," he muttered, nose wrinkling. The smell of burned sugar reached his nose. It was not an unpleasant smell to him, not after he had done so much baking and not when it was associated with someone he loved, so he didn't mind. But he did mind waste. A little.

Alec finished eating his s'more, then put his stick aside for a moment, shaking his sticky hand as if that could rid him of the mess on his fingertips.

"I don't think they're that smart," he said about the trolls. "But I agree about being ready for the worst. Even being — " He cut himself short, then shot a glance at Vex, because he remembered he hadn't told him about this part yet. The fire crackled pleasantly and Alec felt like it was a good time to mention it. "I've been immortal since getting here. Just a little before, actually."

"Yep," Alec said, raising his eyebrows with a smile. It wasn't news he was unhappy to deliver, in fact it was news that made him about as happy as Alec Lightwood could get, as excited as he could be. He was equally excited to have told Vex, since now they could talk about things in the long term, and now his friend wouldn't have to worry about what Magnus would go through in a few years' time.

Alec grinned over at Vex, reaching for the bag to break off a piece of graham cracker and chewing on it, all the more casual.

"Really?" Alec perked up, looking almost child like in his excitement for his friend. And for Magnus, too, since Vex has become like family to him. To Alec as well, if he's honest. Kind of funny to reflect on, but he's much too pleased with things as they are now to pick at it. "Congrats to us, then."

He saluted with two fingers, then ate the rest of the graham cracker, wiping his hand on the face of his pants with a chuckle.

"'Mix of both? A blessing and a curse," he said, picking his stick up again not to make himself a s'more but to stoke the embers of the fire a little, watching sparks float into the air and then burn out. When he turns his gaze to Vex again, he's a little more serious, but still open. He's curious. Vex has lived much longer than Alec has, so his perception of time and immortality is already much different.

"How does it feel, living that long?"

Alec listened attentively, although he did grimace and shook his head when Vex suggested the combined made up words. Rather than speak, he let Vex continue, thinking about what he was saying.

"That would unsettle me more if it didn't come with more time than I can imagine," Alec said after a moment of quiet. Time passing quickly in such a way he didn't see it go would terrify Alec if his time was still limited. The thought of waking up one day next to Magnus realizing thirty years had gone by suddenly and he only had thirty left felt like a knot of anxiety in his stomach.

Thankfully, that wasn't going to be the case. He could wake up and realize thirty years had gone by, and that he had a hundred of them left to live.

"I guess we'll have each other to reminisce on the times," he teased, but then grew more somber again. A bit awed, hands linked and letting his gaze fall to the flames. "Now that I have forever, I can't wait to live that long. I can't tell if that's weird," he said, quiet. Most people saw immortality as a curse, didn't they? Yet it filled Alec's mind with a multitude of possibilities, all of them possible, since he'd have all the time in the world for them.

Alec didn't mean to bring down the mood. It was a difficult thing to deal with, Mark's absence, knowing how much he meant to Vex and putting himself in his shoes. Alec didn't really know what to say, and thought the conversation might head in a direction that would upset Vex. He thought of changing the subject, but perhaps that would anger Vex as well, the deliberate beating around the bush of what was being unsaid.

He answered the question first, poking at the fire with his stick. A small smile appeared on Alec's lips.

"We have. We talked about it," he said, the smile almost serene. "I didn't think we could, before. But now there's time for things to change and to make it possible for us. One day."

It was clear in his tone that this was something he badly wished for. He didn't add to it, though, not wanting to add salt to the wound, and not needing to share more details than that. It had seemed impossible before, and this was another thing immortality would allow them to share.

Alec scoffed at the quotation marks, but it was empty of any mockery. He was amused, really, that Vex didn't trust the reason for their presence here, as he had much of the same doubts.

He shook his head, unknowingly relieved about not being thrown into the fire thank you very much, and then rubbed the back of his neck with a hand. As much as he wanted children one day, now didn't feel like the right time for either of them. That was another advantage of immortality. There was no rush, and he could rest assured it would work out eventually.

"Not here, no. A lot of warlock children are abandoned back home, and Shadowhunters orphaned," he said. Plenty of kids who need a loving home that they would be more than happy to take in in the future. He opened his mouth to say something else, but then a possibility occurred to him. They have forever now, don't they? There was no knowing how long they would have to be here. "I mean — Maybe, if we're stuck here for a while and a child needs a home," he said, frowning slightly as he stared into the fire. He didn't like to imagine a child being brought here, or why one might need new parents. "But not yet."

With a little grin to Vex, he added: "I'll let you know if we get a pet, uncle."

Oh. Yikes. Even a second given to that thought made Alec's heart pang unpleasantly. He couldn't imagine taking in a child and loving him as his own only for a parent to swoop in and lay claim. He thought, as long as the parent wasn't horrible and unfit, he would just give the child back. He shut down the thought immediately, since it was not relevant yet, nothing to get upset about when they were not close to adopting kids.

But it did help put a bit of Vex and Massimo's relationship in context.

"Thanks for the tip," he said, and meant it genuinely. "I haven't either, actually. Don't know that I'd be happy to."

It was not exactly a place for children, was it? Although the city had been looking better and better.

"Yeah. Not really the place for them," Alec said, clearly done with the s'mores for now, but letting Vex have himself a feast if he'd like. He brought the supplies for a reason, and if Vex is going to have the whole bag to himself, at least Alec will know he'll have enjoyed the treat.

There was a pause, the sounds of the fire, the forest around them filling it for a beat. It was not a sound Alec had been accustomed to before otherworldly travels, being from the city, but one he now liked. Alec looked up sharply, as if remembering something.

"Hey, I meant to ask... What's up with you and the Kavinsky guy?"

"He — made himself look like Mark?" Alec almost sounded disgusted from how awful he thought that was, how weirdly manipulative and hurtful it was.

It was not at all what Alec had expected to hear. From this story it was Kavinsky that was in the wrong entirely, and Vex that was completely reasonable, and while he wasn't about to go talk to Kavinsky for Vex's sake — he was making a mental note to stay away from him and make sure he wasn't going to keep making life for his friend hell when it came to his missing husband.

He might have throttled anyone who tried this with him. He may not ever have been in this situation to begin with, he understands how difficult it must be to lose your husband and then not be able to stand being alone and opening yourself up to someone else. And that person expecting you to have moved on without any sort of closure, holding it against you...

"Someone who's just insecure could ask you directly without messing with your head, you know," he said, breathing out harshly. He was angry, but given it wasn't his business and Vex seemed willing to give Kavinsky another chance, tried to contain it. "That's not right."

It seemed like a lot more than a twenty year old's immaturity or insecurity to Alec, but he hadn't been there, knew nothing of Vex's relationship to Kavinsky, and did not want to fight with his friend. He didn't need to get involved and tell Vex how he should feel about the situation.

"Maybe if he can understand why that was... fucked up of him to do in the first place," he said, hoping that much was true, but doubting it so far. That didn't mean Kavinsky never could, just that he'd seen no evidence of it yet. Alec wanted better for Vex. At a time like this, hurting as he was, he wanted him to have someone reliable at his side, not... someone who would do something like that to him.

But it wasn't his place. Vex coped differently than Alec did, the two of them polar opposites. There was no rhyme or reason to pushing his own perception of the situation on his friend.

"You still want to help him, even after that?" It wasn't an admonition. It was curious, almost. This was a side of Vex that Alec liked. The one that cared for someone no matter what happened.
