Summary: Mandy's Masquerade hosts a fantastic Halloween party with a costume contest, some very special cocktails, and a few other surprises.

Mandy's is looking a bit festive this evening. Arrayed with spiderwebs, pumpkins, and other ghoulish decorations, the interior resembles a spooky haunted house. Spooky, not scary! Everyone's invited to stop by and celebrate All Hallow's Eve with spirited drinks, excellent company, and a lot of that Magnus flair.

You can loosen up on the dance floor to Monster Mash, Thriller, Dead Man's Party, or maybe something from this list. The spooky sky's the limit! Visit the bar for one of several special drinks you won't soon forget. You can also sample some tasty and holiday-appropriate baked goods, courtesy of the other Mr. Lightwood-Bane. Finally, stop by the table with the MAGIC 8 BALL to learn a little more about your fellow partygoers.

Siren Song
If you're a little tone-deaf, don't fret. This drink will turn you into a master at serenading. It won't actually give you the ability to influence anyone via magical means, but maybe if your song choice is apt, you'll woo someone either way!

Firework!
A drink that comes with a portable fireworks show hovering over its surface. Drinking it will give you the sensation of ingesting liquid pop-rocks.

Blacklight
Does what it says on the tin and makes the drinker glow under a black light. It's also kind of sour.

Frankenstein's Monster
This drink is quite shocking. Not dangerously so, but when you drink it, you'll have the impression of getting a tingling little jolt of electricity down your spine. It's aliiiiive.

To Be or Not To Be (A Daemon)
Drink this and you will find you've been magically swapped with your daemon. It only lasts ten minutes, but hey! You'll get to see how the other half lives. A note: you won't inherit one another's abilities!

In first place for individual costumes...

Rafa wins for his devilish costume and he'll be awarded 2 potions: the first of which will up his luck stat, granting him good fortune in an endeavor (it says "Deal with the Devil" on the bottle) and the second will up his persuasion stat, helping him to be more successful in an argument (it says "The Devil's Advocate" on the bottle).

In second place for individual costumes...

Nico plunders the second place spot and will be given a treasure chest full of chocolates that are rum flavored. Careful, they pack a bit of a punch and when consumed, they'll make whoever eats them feel especially happy. No sad drunks here!

In third place for individual costumes...

Zeke and his amazingly sunny costume are in third and he wins a sunflower plant that will never cease to bloom and seems to have a bit of a glow about it. Plus, perpetual supply of sunflower seeds?

In first place for couples costumes...

Magnus and Alec came first for their portrayal of... each other... and they win a pair of seemingly mundane t-shirts that say "Bennet" and "Darcy" on them. What's that about?

In second place for couples costumes...

Vex and Kenzi delighted with their take on the Addams' family patriarch and matriarch and won second place. As a prize, Kenzi will be given a shampoo and conditioner set that seems pretty innocuous until you check out the writing on the bottles: 'Have YOU ever wanted hair like Cousin Itt? Are you ever in luck!' Just a small amount will make her locks lustrous and smooth. Vex will be given a very lifelike and animated hand in a box.

In third place for couples costumes...

Rose and Kaz were drop dead gorgeous in their mafia-inspired garb. As prizes, they will receive the following: for Rose, a pair of magical die that make music when thrown, and for Kaz, a set of playing cards that are intricately illustrated with astonishing art that seems to move. Watch out for the face cards, they get very opinionated about your playing. They both also receive a chip that can be relinquished to Magnus for a small magical favor.

Yes, a handful of us met in a place called Eudio before landing here. ( he gestures, point toward Vex, then Rafa. ) Met these guys there.

( he returns his attention to her, a tiny smile on his face. ) It was different, but there were a lot more parties. I got used to them.

[ she hadn't realized those two were also part of that particular group too. ]

...It seems like a large majority of our group came from Eudio. Or perhaps more accurately, a majority of those first few arriving groups of us.

[ now the why is going to bother her. why so many from Eudio, but seemingly so few from others? ]

Yeah. Makes you wonder if it's a coincidence. That place also got... Not better, but intimacy was it's main power source. This place uses that too. ( that's the biggest connection he's managed to make himself. it's not a super strong one, but it does make some sort of sense that they'd land here.

though he thinks F.A.T.E.S. does it at random, considering some travelling from eudio never made it through. )

[ Era had never heard specifics about Eudio before - just that it was another multiverse hub of sorts that fostered bonds between people. This is the first she's heard of intimacy being used as a power source there - and the implication that it was the power source here as well. She had assumed that it was emotional closeness in Xistentia, then thought no further on the issue. Why would she, when intimacy wasn't something she thought about?

The glow of her hand dissipates as she shifts, letting her other no-longer-aching foot dangle with the other, over the edge of the stool she's perched on. Era supposes now is as good a time as any to fill out her knowledge a bit more. It's not exactly a comfortable topic for her, but she perseveres as always. ]

'Intimacy' is a broad term. Is there a specific type of intimacy, or have all forms been accepted?

In Eudio? ( he rests his chin in the heel of his palm, gaze going between her and the people out there, dancing, drinking, talking. ) Physical only. Touching someone counted, but not as much as sex.

( he doesn't think this place is quite like that. it definitely doesn't require the intimacy to power itself, as the daemons were there when everyone arrived. but it's clearly altering the space around them, and hopefully improving the status of things back in their home worlds. )

I don't know about here. It's different, but the same idea, I think.

[ well that is even more reason for her to be grateful she was never there. even just holding hands with someone was a big step forward to her here. ]

I don't know why Aymeric and myself were brought here, if there was a reason for it. Casual physical intimacy is not common in my world.

You get used to it quickly, ( take it from him. eudio helped him figure out real quick he can be touchy-feely, with the right people. he hadn't really known that about himself.

he follows her gaze, wondering if they're an item, but not about to ask. it's not his business, if it isn't explicitly shared with him. he doesn't know era enough yet to simply poke his nose in her business. ) more so when you get here with a friend.

I have no interest in it. [ Era crinkles her nose at the thought without really noticing - not in disgust at the idea that others find something like that enjoyable or that they can grow accustomed to it, but just the concept of intimacy like that in of itself. it's something she doesn't understand, and even the possibility of maybe someday being intimate with Aymeric doesn't make the act of kissing or sex any more appealing. ] I will do whatever is necessary to save my world, but if there is no need of that from me then I shall gladly abstain.

From what you've told me, I'm beginning to think there is no rhyme or reason to who is brought here.

( alec's not going to insist the point. that kind of thing requires a level of vulnerability that isn't easy. besides, not everyone needs that kind of contact. this place seems to grow out of people simply interacting. maybe that's why it's such a random assortment of people. enough people that know each other to get things started,
but enough people from different worlds to foster connections. )

I don't think there is. ( it does bug him a little, as he likes to make sense of things. however, he's more preoccupied by the fact that the entirety of the multiverse is in danger. that they're technically at war. ) We have other things to be concerned about.

[ She shrugs. There has never been a time in her memory where she hasn't been at war, so it isn't something she tends to think on very often. Uncovering commonalities between all of those who arrived on Xistentia is of more interest to her, since it might provide some answers. Or even some insight into what the hologram told her during the exploration of the island not so long ago. ]

There are always other things to be concerned about.
